A track is a set of points that are ordered according to time. Each point contains information about its coordinates, time, and date and, in most cases, altitude.
IMPORTANT: certain models of GPS do not store the date of realisation of track points.
There are tracks in 2 and 3 dimensions, depending on whether the altitude is part of the information stored for each point. For further detailed information, read chapter 2 and 3 dimensional tracks.
Whenever you store a track in any of the Land/Air compatible formats, apart from storing the points that make up the track, you are also storing a whole load of other information that can be modified or inserted from Land/Air such as: name of the track, comments, name of town of departure, amongst others.
